Dear Students,

FYP Report - Plagiarism Check before hard copy submission on 13 April 2017

At this stage, most of you should be preparing the project reports for submission on 13 April 2017 (Thursday).  You must refrain from plagiarism, i.e. failure to properly acknowledge the use of another person's work.  Students who have committed plagiarism will be subjected to penalty that includes lowering of grade, course failure, or even termination of study.  In 2008/09, a student was terminated by the University as a result of committing a serious act of academic dishonesty by plagiarizing others' work from the internet in her FYP report.

Important Reminders for Plagiarism Check/ Softcopy/ Hardcopy Report Submission

  1. To help you and your supervisor identify texts copied without acknowledgement, all students MUST submit your reports to the Turnitin System for checking on or before 10 April 2017 (Monday).

  1. The Turnitin Originality Report may require days to generate. Its printout should be attached to your Project Report in hard copy submitted to the General Office on 13 April 2017 (Thursday).
  1. All softcopy submissions should be done online via your CityU’s Canvas under “Assignment”.  You are required to submit your report in PDF format for department’s record and assessment. Similarity index of your report will be generated on the system with your PDF submission.  The system is accessible starting from 24 March 2017 at 9:00am.  Students failing to submit PDF format to the Canvas by 10 April 2017 will be subjected to penalty that includes lowering of grade or course failure.

  1. The Turnitin Originality Report will show the Overall Similarity Index and the related copied texts (without acknowledgement) found in your reports, facilitating the supervisors’ and assessors’ judgment on whether you have committed plagiarism. Though unlimited submissions are acceptable by the Turnitin system, please be mindful of the deadline set to 10 April 2017.

Should you have any queries on the above, please contact the FYP Director, Dr W S Chan at 3442 7804.

FYP Report - Plagiarism Check before hard copy submission on 25 November 2016

To: All Final Year Project Students (projects to be presented in Sem A, 2016/17)

@

Dear Students,

FYP Report - Plagiarism Check before hard copy submission on 25 November 2016

At this stage, most of you should be preparing the project reports for submission on 25 November 2016 (Fri).

  1. To help you and your supervisor identify texts copied without acknowledgement, all students MUST submit your reports to the Turnitin System for checking on or before 22 November 2016 (Tue).
  1. The Turnitin Originality Report may require days to generate. Its printout should be attached to your Project Report in hard copy submitted to the General Office on 25 November 2016 (Fri).
  1. All softcopy submissions should be done online via your CityU's Canvas under “Assignment”.  You are required to submit your report in PDF format for department's record and assessment. Similarity index of your report will be generated on the system with your PDF submission.  The system is accessible starting from 8 November 2016 at 9:00am.  Students failing to submit PDF format to the Canvas by 22 November 2016 will be subjected to penalty that includes lowering of grade or course failure.
  1. The Turnitin Originality Report will show the Overall Similarity Index and the related copied texts (without acknowledgement) found in your reports, facilitating the supervisors' and assessors' judgment on whether you have committed plagiarism. Though unlimited submissions are acceptable by the Turnitin system, please be mindful of the deadline set to 22 November 2016.

Should you have any queries on the above, please contact the FYP Director, Dr W S Chan at 3442 7804.
